Gathering Schedule 2022: We resumed in-person sangha meetings on April 14. Meetings are held most Thursdays, from 7-8:15pm at the Humboldt Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (HUUF). We continue to host a monthly gathering via Zoom (usually the first Thursday, see below) when we are joined by our Dharma Teacher Alexa.
Please contact us to receive the Zoom invitation and to join the email list to be notified of any other changes, cancellations or special events. Please be patient when you contact us, the email is not checked daily. There is also a call-in Zoom number available for people who prefer not to use video. Thank you!
On the first Thursday of the month our Dharma Teacher Alexa Singer-Telles leads our gatherings from 7-8:30 pm on Zoom; we will send out the Zoom link a day or so in advance. In summer, 2022, Alexa will continue to join us via Zoom on July 14, August 4 and September 1, and there will be no in-person meetings on those dates. (Dates are subject to change.)
On the few times a year that there is a fifth Thursday in the month, we schedule a potluck rather than a gathering. For the present, our potlucks have been BYO sack dinners on the Humboldt Unitarian Universalist Fellowship patio, weather permitting, and we ask that all folks attending follow the current masking guidelines. In 2022, these are June 30, Sept 29, Dec 29th (may skip). We don’t usually meet on Thanksgiving, or if Christmas or New Year’s Eve fall on a Thursday.
**If you are unfamiliar with Zoom, but have access to a computer, tablet or smart phone, check out the Zoom website here, if you have trouble using it or figuring it out, contact us and we’ll see if we can help. If you have a tablet, computer, laptop or smartphone, you can usually log in just by clicking through the invitation.
Days of Mindfulness
Twice a year we try to host a Day of Mindfulness. They usually last most of the day on a Saturday at the Humboldt Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Bayside.
All are welcome to a nourishing day of mindful meditation practices: sitting, walking, eating, deep relaxation, listening to a dharma talk, and times of silence and sharing, led by Dharma Teacher Alexa Singer-Telles.
Bring a vegetarian lunch, water, a blanket or yoga mat for total relaxation and a cushion if you prefer to use one.
Since part of the day is held indoors, during times of Covid, we observe the following precautions: all attending must be fully vaccinated and masks are required; all windows are open (so it may be cool), and people are spaced appropriately.
The suggested donation for the day is usually $30, but no one is ever turned away for lack of funds; an additional offering of ‘dana’ – generosity – are invited for our teacher, but is not required. A schedule will be posted as a date gets closer.
