Fall Day of Mindfulness October 16: Mindfully Embracing Impermanence

Our Day of Mindfulness will take place October 16 from 10:30 AM to 5 PM at the Humboldt Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 24 Fellowship Way, Bayside (click here for map); venue is wheelchair accessible. All are welcome to a nourishing day of mindful meditation practices: sitting, walking, eating, deep relaxation, and times of silence and sharing, led by Dharma Teacher Alexa Singer-Telles. You are invited to bring a picture or symbol to place on an altar to our ancestors as we contemplate the Five Remembrances. These wisely remind us of the theme of this day’s practice: the preciousness of life, and how looking at death teaches us to live life more fully. Bring a vegetarian lunch, water, a blanket or yoga mat for total relaxation and a cushion if you prefer to use one. Since part of the day will be held indoors, we will observe the following Covid precautions: all attending must be fully vaccinated and masked, all windows will be open (so it may be cool), and people will be spaced appropriately. The suggested donation for the day is $30, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds; offerings of ‘dana’ – generosity – will be invited. Please email to register.

Gathering Schedule 2021: We are continuing to host our weekly gatherings most Thursdays from 7 – 8:00pm via Zoom.

Once a month our Dharma Teacher Alexa leads our gathering. Gatherings with Alexa are held from 7-8:30 pm, usually on the first Thursday of each month. As with our weekly gatherings on Zoom, we will send out the Zoom link a day or so in advance. For Fall 2021, Alexa will join us via Zoom on October 7. November 4, and December 2

On the few times a year that there is a fifth Thursday in the month, we schedule a potluck rather than a gathering. For the present, our potlucks will be sack dinners on the Humboldt Unitarian Universalist Fellowship patio, weather permitting, and we ask that all folks attending wear a mask except when seated to eat.

Please contact us to receive the Zoom invitation and to join the email list to be notified of any other changes, cancellations or special events. Please be patient when you contact us, the email is not checked daily. There is also a call-in number available for people who prefer not to use video. Thank you!

**If you are unfamiliar with Zoom, but have access to a computer, tablet or smart phone, check out the Zoom website here, if you have trouble using it or figuring it out, contact us and we’ll see if we can help. If you have a tablet, computer, laptop or smartphone, you can usually log in just by clicking through the invitation.
